Professional Coaching Experience

Gordy has been coaching soccer for more than 10 years, most recently coaching the LNSC BU9 team that finished third in CSL Omega Bronze Division in the team’s first season together. The team also finished runners-up in the prestigious Forest Cup in San Diego.

Playing Experience

Gordy played competitive soccer for more than 35 years. He played in high school alongside Liverpool legend and former New England Revolution coach Steve Nicol. He then played for Paisley University in Scotland that culminated with winning the Scottish Colleges Cup in 1985. He moved to the US in 1985 playing in the Coast League and then the semi-pro Pacific League which spawned many talented players that were part of the inaugural season for the MLS in 1993. He finished his playing days with the Brits in the Laguna Niguel FA League and still tries to kick the ball now and then with some Laguna Beach dads.

Education

Gordy earned his BA in Business Economics from Paisley University in Scotland and also holds Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

About Me

He lives in Newport Coast with his wife Aina and three children, Megan, Charlie & Tabi. Megan and Charlie play soccer at Laguna United. His nephew Jack McBean is currently playing for Galaxy FC in the MLS, joining them last year at only 16 years old. Gordy’s favorite soccer teams are Galaxy FC, Liverpool FC and the mighty Ayr United FC.
